Not Worth Helping

Michelle Malkin: THE THANKS WE GET

Despite millions in aid and a massive relief effort these people still hate the West.

Your comment that people aren't worth helping is pretty shameful. Your method of protest can reach thousands of eyes with the click of a button, but for the poor to get noticed they have to burn things. And you spit on them for getting noticed? ... How nice.

"You're not taking our chairty with squeals of glee! No Soup For You!"

My comment is no more shameful than taking aid and comfort from a country and returning only hatred. It would be like your neighbor taking help from you and then kicking you in the nuts when you were finished. Poverty does not excuse bad manners.

Sorry, but burning an effigy isn't a kick to the nuts. It's more like this:
A country with many poor people, and a poorly managed government has a natural disaster. We help them out as best we can, and it doesn't save tens of thousands of lives even though it helps many tens of thousands. Unrelated political strife which has existed for at least decades fails to go away.

Don't make a bad analogy for something as complex as two countries interacting.

Exactly my point. If they hates us that much then they shouldn't accept our help in the first place. Poverty in Pakistan and the quality of their government is not our fault. We help them as best we can and they still hate us. Perhaps there are other countries we could help where the people will be more appreciative of our efforts.

Did you consider the people pictured aren't representatives for the majority?
Have you tried finding a poll done of quake victims to see who appreciate the support, and how many who actually got aid still "hate" the West unconditionally?

The quality of their government has a lot to do with the West actually. We exploit their poor with their government. Take a look at your jeans or sheets and if they were made in the third world I'd suggest to you that you're complicit in the exploitation, like most Canadians are.

And remember that true charity doesn't require repayment in kind, in any case.

Yep, typical lefty bullshit. Its our fault that they are poor, our fault that they have a military government, our fault that they had an earthquake, and our fault that they hate us. I can't argue with that kind of logic. Carry on Saskboy. Nice talking to you.

As for Chica, I wasn't aware that we were having an argument, so have a nice day son.

I never said it was our fault they had a quake, did I? But it certainly is partly our fault that they have reasons to dislike the West. Would you like your neighbour if the only time they looked at you was when your house fell in, and all the while they're having your kids make your jeans and you give them pennies for doing it?

The only reason you can't argue with my logic is because I'm using logic and you're not willing to.

Mean while, continue to ignore the fact that the people in your inflamatory picture doesn't represent the average Muslim. Since you seem to think that only the people on TV in the Middle East represent the common man, I guess you accept the fact that Britney Speares is the West's representative. When was the last time she spoke for you?

Have a nice Sunday
